Digitisation and Research Data in the UK, Europe and beyond

About

This blog is written by me (Alastair Dunning, The Hague) and is largely about online digitised content and research data in higher education, cultural heritage and beyond.

It covers fields such as digitisation, digital humanities, research data, open data, business models and any other issues germane to digital content on the Internet.

I am currently Head of Research Data and the 4TU.Centre for Research Data, at the Technical University of Delft. I previously worked for Europeana (the European culture heritage site) and for UK funders Jisc, where I managed the Digital Content programme

Despite the footer (which I cannot seem to edit) saying differently, all the content is available under a Creative Commons CC-BY

  1. Dear Alastair Dunning,

I am writing on behalf of the “Internet Working Group”, a group within the PDF/A Competence Center founded to increase awareness of PDF/A on the internet.

PDF/A is the new ISO standard for the long-term archiving of electronic documents. We believe that PDF/A is one of the hottest topics in the PDF world, with a search trend that will continue to grow. The aim of the PDF/A Competence Center is to promote the exchange of information and experience in the area of long-term archiving in accordance the standard.

We’d like to work with you to encourage a stronger online presence for PDF/A. Would you consider posting a link to the PDF/A Competence Center on your Web site? By affiliating with the PDF/A Competence Center, you’re potential customers will have better access to credible information about PDF/A. We are confident that by helping promote adoption rates, your business will benefit from this partnership.
Please let me know what you and your colleagues think about this idea and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions about the PDF/A standard

Regards, on behalf of the PDF/A Competence Center,

    Jaime Merz
